The story begins as we meet Captain George Jennings, a man known for his chivalry, humanitarianism and enterprising spirit which has earned him a place in the Pacific Coast history books. Better known as “Captain George”, he prepares to set sail for a 10 day cruise to New York City as he welcomes a group of excited passengers aboard his ship in Southampton.
Amongst the travelers, best friends Penny Laine and Pertulia Lovejoy are on a quest to find a husband for Pertulia, and have all kinds of fun and high jinx as the transatlantic journey unfolds. In an interesting plot twist, Penny who has always been in the shadow of Pertulia, meets the man of her dreams on board.
